Peanut Butter and Jam Sandwich
Sunday, April 26th, 2009One of the truly wonderful benefits of being in the Philippines is the ability to have maids to help with the housework and more. This is especially true for a single guy like myself.
Over time, I have learned that culture and language barriers can cause some challenges and also some amusing situations.
The other day I sent my helper a text message requesting she send over a lunch to the office I was visiting. I asked her to make me a peanut butter and jam sandwich, along with some other items.
When my lunch arrived, I unpacked it and got ready to eat. I noticed in the plastic container there were two sandwiches. This was a bit out of the ordinary, and my helper knows I only eat one. So I took the two sandwiches out and inspected them.
One sandwich had peanut butter on it.
One sandwich had jam on it.
Later I explained to her that peanut butter and jam sandwich is one sandwich containing both peanut butter and jam
